Efficient photochemical water oxidation by a dinuclear molecular ruthenium complex.
Herein is described the preparation of a dinuclear molecular Ru catalyst for H2O oxidation. The prepared catalyst mediates the photochemical oxidation of H2O with an efficiency comparable to state-of-the-art catalysts.
متن کاملA general approach to the enantioselective α-oxidation of aldehydes via synergistic catalysis.
A new enantioselective α-oxidation of aldehydes has been accomplished using TEMPO and a synergistic combination of copper and organic catalysis. Expanding upon recently reported mechanistic studies, these mild catalytic conditions provide stable aldehyde products bearing a wide array of electronically and sterically diverse substructures. The utility of these oxidized products is highlighted by...
متن کاملOxidation Catalysis by Enzymes in Microemulsions
Microemulsions are regarded as “the ultimate enzyme microreactors” for liquid oxidations. Their structure, composed of water nanodroplets dispersed in a non-polar medium, provides several benefits for their use as media for enzymatic transformations. They have the ability to overcome the solubility limitations of hydrophobic substrates, enhance the enzymatic activity (superactivity phenomenon) ...
متن کاملOxidation catalysis by supported gold nano-clusters
The historical notion regarding the inability of gold to catalyze reactions has been discarded in view of recent studies, which have clearly demonstrated the high catalytic efficiency of supported nano-gold catalysts. Although nano-Au catalysts are known to catalyze a variety of reactions, the major focus has been on CO oxidation catalysis. In this work we focus on the important aspects related...
متن کاملFirst - principles , atomistic thermodynamics for oxidation catalysis
Present knowledge of the function of materials is largely based on studies (experimental and theoretical) that are performed at low temperatures and ultra-low pressures. However, the majority of everyday applications, like e.g. catalysis, operate at atmospheric pressures and temperatures at or higher than 300 K. Here we employ ab initio, atomistic thermodynamics to construct a phase diagram of ...
